The Land van Cuijk vision sets a future-oriented course for the new municipality with no fewer than 33 cores and has the appropriate name: Land of Pionieering! The project combines ambitions in the areas of climate, energy, agriculture, nature, housing, mobility and society in an integral spatial vision. With pioneering as a verb: discovering, trying and learning together in an area-oriented manner.
The spatial structure image is central, in which living and working are cleverly bundled along two axes, supported by ecological networks and smart mobility. Four landscape sub-areas - Maasoeverwal, Raamvallei, Peelzoom and Peelkern - form the basis for tailor-made solutions that match their unique qualities, reasoned from water and soil-led designs, among other things.
Smartland's main role was in the development of the landscape layer. With a focus on biodiversity restoration and the preservation and strengthening of natural and cultural-historical values, elements have been introduced, such as east-west nature connections, green-blue veining of the rural area and integration of water management in the landscape. The design supports biodiversity, climate adaptation and mitigation and long-term liveability.
The long-term collaboration with village and district councils, water boards, farmers' organisations, corporations, energy companies, associations, entrepreneurs, healthcare institutions and nature organisations, civil servants and administrators was special. This collaboration resulted in a broadly supported Vision.
